DDA was honored to be chosen once again to perform at the Opening Ceremonies for Relay for Life in Olathe – held on June 10, 2011.  Our dancers performed a beautiful lyrical dance to “Have a Little Faith” for the kick-off of the 12 hour relay.  DDA also put together an awesome team of dancers and parents and raised over $1,000 to donate to the American Cancer Society.  Dancers walked throughout the night and participated in several contests.  Thanks to all who came out and made it a great night – and a big thanks to Miss Liz for being a great Team Captain and organizing this event!

Our 18th Annual Dance Recital was awesome!!  Great job to everyone who danced and worked behind the scenes.  It was the best one yet!  Congrats!  Video is coming online soon….stay tuned!

Our dancers came home from an amazing weekend at the Talent on Parade Dance Competition!  It was held at Municipal Auditotium in Kansas City.  DDA entered 80 routines and came home winners in every single routine!  All of our dancers scored Diamond Elite Top 1st, Elite Top 1st, or Top 1st Place – and we had numerous dances in the Overall Finals.  I was most proud to be awarded the Studio Sportsmanship Award – we are honored and pleased to have won!! Congrats to many of our dancers who were chosen to be TOP Starz, scholarship winners, Judges’ Choice Awards, and cash award winners.  We also won the Overall Senior Production with our “Divas on Broadway” routine.  All of our Competition Team dancers will be heading to Des Moines, IA in June to attend the National Finals!  Great job, dancers!

Our Competition Teams dancers will be performing on Friday, March 4th at 7:30 pm for our 1st Annual DDA Showcase!  The show will be held at Blue Valley North High School and will feature our solo, duets, and trios that will be competing in our upcoming competition season.  The show is free and open to the public – come and support our DDA dancers!  Break a Leg, Dancers!

Congrats to all of the girls who attended the Hollywood Connection Convention and Competition this weekend!  You all did an amazing job – both on the stage and in your classes.  I am proud of all of you!  And we had so many winners of scholarships and special awards – I will get them all listed on here soon!  Check out the pics that have been uploaded onto the Photo Gallery.  Thanks for a great weekend!

Good Luck to our Company En Pointe Dancers who will be performing in the Nutcracker – ALl Jazz’d Up this weekend!  We have collaborated with Academy of the Arts to perform at Shawnee Mission West High School on Dec 11 and 12.  Performances will take place on Saturday, Dec 11 at 2 pm and 7 pm and again on Sunday, Dec 12 at 2 pm.  Tickets are available at the door.  Break a Leg, dancers

For the 4th year, Denise’s Dance Academy will help sponsor ” A Candy Coated Christmas Party.”   This organization holds a holiday party for many underprivileged and orphaned children in the Kansas City area. The party involves holiday singing and dancing and scrumptious goodies to eat. Each child will go home with a gift from Santa that day. DDA along with dancers from Company En Pointe will be collecting unwrapped gifts to donate to this wonderful organization. DDA has had great success in the past supplying wonderful gifts for this event. If you have any questions, please contact Miss Denise or Miss Nadine.

What an amazing weekend! DDA was the only area dance studio to be invited to perform the pre-show at the Sprint Center on September 24 for So You Think You Can Dance!  Over 35 dancers performed some of our award-winning competition routines prior to the show at the Sprint Center.   All of our dancers then performed our Dreams Come True Finale number – to a huge crowd!  After the show, many of our dancers were excited to meet, take pictures, and get autographs from Lauren, Kent, and the whole SYTYCD dancers!  It was great!  Pictures are coming soon!

Break A Leg Dancers!

DDA is now proud to offer free wi-fi to our clients!  This will be great for parents who like to wait for their dancer in the lobby or for dancers who need to finish up homework between classes!  Our new stereo system is computerized as well – eliminating the need for switching back and forth between cd’s and saving valuable class time! 

Classes begin on September 7th!

What an awesome time!!  Our Master Class with Kristin Sudeikis was amazing!  Thanks to everyone who made it such a success – and to Kristin for sharing her talents with us at DDA!  We are looking forward to having her back again soon!
